SOME SCIENTIFIC ERRORS IN THE BIBLE

If God were responsible for the Christian Bible, as an all-knowing being, he should have made no mistakes concerning nature and science. Yet, the Bible is full of erroneous, outrageous and child-like statements about the earth, about man and about the heavens. Only man could be that far off from the truth.

Believers defend the Bible by telling us, "The Bible is not a book of science." Clear Thinkers concur with this statement. But the believers turn around and tell us the Bible is from God, and the Bible is true when it speaks on sin, salvation, creation, heaven, hell, angels and such. The Honest Doubter asks this important question. How can anyone separate real science from religion's CONCEPT of SIN?

Science has as its very Foundation, the concept of honest doubt as the starting point for its investigations. Contrary to science, religion holds Honest Doubt as its WORST SIN. Honest Doubt (or Clear Thinking) is the only sin which the Almighty hates enough to refuse to give forgiveness for it. Science holds honest doubt and Clear Thinking as its highest virtue.

The original sin was not disobedience. The original (first) sin was that man did not believe God. Man (Adam and Eve) doubted God was telling the truth about these things. Therefore, man investigated and learned some truths from the Tree of Knowledge. That investigation and knowledge proved that God was wrong. If this sin story is literal, it is stating that man can get Knowledge by eating fruit off a certain tree. Now that is not true. It is a false scientific statement.

On the other hand, some believers tell us the story is an allegory. That is, eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge "symbolizes" studying, experimenting or observing in order to gain knowledge. So as an allegory, this story tells us it is a sin to study and gain knowledge.

If that is so, the story is still false. It is unscientific. It is even inhumane. Without knowledge, man's civilization would never have developed, or would have been eliminated from the face of the earth by evolution. Man has evolved as he has, because he DID accumulate knowledge. His brain grew as he stretched it by seeking knowledge. As his brain grew, so grew his ability to learn, to survive and to develop. Man dominates the earth today because he has, does, and will, gain knowledge. NO! The story as an allegory is WORSE than the story as literal. It will not do. It is false! It is anti humane. It is unscientific. This story as an allegory is a terrible sin against man.

Some other believers tell us the story "symbolizes" man's knowledge and discovery of sex. The fruit was actually sexual intercourse. If this is so, I would like to say, "Hallelujah!" I would also like to ask a question. Did God condemn man for learning about sex, then change his mind and tell the man and woman to be fruitful and multiply? Did he then change his mind again and make a third turn-around and call this same fruitfulness, the original sin, as some religious leaders have claimed? I think not. It is a false claim. Sex is the natural method of animal reproduction. It can certainly be misused, but the Knowledge of Sex is vital information that man must necessarily have, and he needs even more knowledge about its purpose, care, procedure and utility. Sex is knowledge. Sex is a Scientific subject that affects not only the future of the human race, but may also affect our personal future evolution.

Science cannot be separated from the religious sin of Honest Doubt. The worst religious sin consists of doubting, thinking and reaching conclusions based on the facts of the matter instead of being based on believing the revealed, authorized claim made by God, his Holy Books, and his holy men. Science is Sin, according to most of the Christian Holy Books, doctrines and claims.

The only conclusion any thinking person can come to is, this story is Not from any God. It is not even from a person who could think himself out of the simplest problem. This story was used by barbaric priests for the purpose of awing ignorant and gullible people into obeying their commands. There is not one ounce of scientific truth in the whole tale, as told in the Bible and as interpreted. Neither is there any moral or ethical value in the story. In fact, the opposite is true. It is bad morals and bad ethics to take a virtue like knowledge and say that knowledge and the pursuit of it, is evil. To say ignorance (innocence) is better than knowledge is sin in its worst form. This garden story in the Bible is a sinful story and sets a bad and immoral example for those who believe it. And as for those who tell this tale, who claim that it is the truth, they are devilish and they sin against both mankind and God.

This same story tells us it took God one day to create the billions and billions of galaxies, and more multiplied billions of suns in each galaxy. Yet, it took God one whole day just to make our sun and moon. That is a real scientific breakthrough, which the religious scientists of old figured out (or had revealed to them). No God ever inspired, approved, or condoned this derogatory nonsense to be written about him. If there were a God who cared, he would have long since seen to it that these false statements about him were removed from the face of the earth. That is not to mention the ones who go around teaching that these false things are true. Is their God that stupid? NO! BUT MAN IS! The self deluded, who can believe the unbelievable, Believe It! It is such a shame that mankind wastes his brains in this fashion. Worst of all, he is willing to kill, or die for such nonsense.

Since this in not a book about the errors in the Bible, it is impossible for a book of this small size to list more than just a few of the errors in the Bible. It is also impossible to both list and comment on even a few. So, what I have done is to list a few of these errors in headline fashion. At your leisure, you can look up as many as you wish, or as few.

There are over twenty five thousand errors in the English King James Christian Bible that have been listed by several Clear Thinkers. Here is a short headline list for you. They are not in any order. This list could consume hundreds of pages and still not do justice to the absurd lack of scientific knowledge possessed by the writers of the various books of the Bible. I do wish to say a few words about the flood myth, if you don't mind.

The cubit used by the Hebrews measures eighteen (18) inches, both officially and from ancient measurements. The cubit comes from the measurement from inside the forearm to the fingertips when the arm is crooked. The Egyptian cubit is twenty-two and one half (22.5) inches. (They had longer arms and fingers.) Genesis 7:20 says the water rose fifteen (15) cubits at its highest. Fifteen (15) cubits times eighteen (18) inches equals 270 inches. Dividing by 12 inches to the foot, one gets 22.5 feet, or 22 feet and 6 inches. Now that is a lot of water, but certainly not worthy of a God trying to destroy every living creature on earth that was not in the ark. That is how big the flood was according to the first mention of it in the Bible. How did he measure it and live to tell the tale?

[Some preachers try to tell us that the fifteen (15) cubits was to show how high the flood was “over the top of the mountains.” Nothing supports this assumption and any study of the texts show that was not the intent or conclusion of the Bible (OT) statement. Look how ridiculous this concept really is.]

In other places, mistaken Moses, in Genesis said, the flood covered the whole earth. Yet, 22 feet would not get much past the beaches or riverbanks in most locations. Mount Everest is 5.5 miles high, over 29,000 feet. There are many, many mountains between four and five miles high.

Let's fudge a little for the sake of discussing the subject and say the flood did cover the mountains and four (4) miles was high enough to be classified as covering the whole earth. Four miles times 5,280 feet is 21,120 feet. It was claimed, water built up for forty (40) days. 21,120 feet divided by forty (40) days means 528 feet, or 6,336 inches of water fell each DAY on each square foot of the earth. That means, 22 feet of water came down EACH HOUR. That is 264 inches per hour for each square foot of this globe. That is about 4.5 inches PER MINUTE, over the whole earth. Now, THAT IS A FLOOD GOD CAN BE PROUD OF!

If that much water did fall over the whole earth, while it was building up and surrounding our globe, it would have been ice, not water. It would have totally encased this planet in a very deep cocoon of ICE. In order to get into position to fall, the water would have to be at least twenty miles high and at least ONE MILE THICK. Of course, the physics of it would not let it fall in the first place. But let's pretend (like the Bible does). This means there would have been no sunlight on the earth while it was building up. If you have dived a few feet in the ocean or lake, you know how fast water or ice absorbs light. Noah would die! Animals, plants, fish, insects, everything close to the surface of earth would die from the unbelievable cold. If everything was already dead why would God need to continue with a flood?

The Bible does not mention the icebergs that would have fallen, nor does it mention the months or years of total darkness and cold, which would have preceded the rain fall while the ice built up around the earth. This is the science of the Bible. THIS IS GOD'S TRUTH! This is God's revelation to mankind! This is what people swear they believe. They swear, they personally know and have intimate private conversations with this God of the Bible who is supposed to be responsible for such absurd statements and stories.

But, let's say it did happen. WHERE IS THE WATER NOW? Did God send a vacuum cleaner hose down from heaven and suck it up? Our geologists tell us there has been about the same amount of water on and in the earth for several millions of years and some say, a couple of billions of years. So, before and after the flood, the actual water percentage of the earth has been relatively the same. This excludes the possibility that much of this floodwater could have been stored underground before the flood or after the flood.

What explanations have the believers for the disappearance of such an enormous amount of water? The disappearance of that much water is a GREATER wonder than the flood itself. Shoving that much water into the earth would raise the crust of the earth up over four miles and we would be freezing again, not to mention unable to breath properly. The mountaintops would then be eight or nine miles high. Also, much of the water would turn into steam as it contacted the hot spots of the mantle causing intensive clouds and great constant rain or snow to fall.

In other words, if the whole earth had EVER been flooded to the mountaintops, it would STILL be flooded to the mountaintops. Somebody lied about the flood. Someone stretched the truth beyond comprehension. It never happened, unless one is willing to accept the first mention of the flood as being 15 cubits high. If so, we are being told about a local storm and flood. Virginia has much better floods than that almost every year. There is geological evidence of great tidal waves, which swept over the earth, but we have enough water on earth already to account for this.

Let's look at the boat. You can figure the cubits into feet for yourself. The boat was said to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. It had three decks and one small window at the top that was sealed by God himself, and remained closed for nine months. God does stay busy doesn't he? The boat was sealed with pitch. It was water and airtight. It had three decks of eleven (11) feet from floor to floor, or deck to deck including the depth of the floors.

My first question is, what did Noah do with the urine and manure? Did God constipate all the animals for a whole year? I have seen the vast amount of manure a few animals can deliver in one day. I have had to shovel it out of the stalls. Where did Noah and his three helpers put the manure for a whole year? The Bible tells us the animals were in the ark 376 days, "...from the seventeenth day of the second month of the first year, until the twenty seventh day of the second month of the second year."

Where did Noah get his water for himself and the animals? Don't say from the flood, because even if four miles of fresh water were mixed with the ocean's waters, the salt content would be far too high to drink without killing the animals and the humans. Noah would have had to tow another ark as big as his first one just to have survival water for the animals for 376 days. Nothing is mentioned about another ark.

If the flood stories were true, all of the present animals would have come from that period since the flood. According to the Bible, using its own figures and our time calendar, the flood started on February 17, 2427 BC. There are a minimum of 150,000 animal species and some methods of classification more than double that. If you add sub species that would not have time to evolve in the period between the flood and the present, you would have about 500,000 species. But let's use the smaller figure.

Two each of the unclean and supposedly seven of the clean animals were taken aboard the ark ("clean" refers to the animal's digestibility and lack of diseases, according to Hebrew diet laws). This clean and unclean idea about food did not find its way into the Hebrew writings and concepts until about 300 BC. That means this story of the flood must have been written after the Hebrews (Shepherds) received the idea from the Persians about 300 BC.

So, there would be about 400,000 animals needing space aboard the ark. The ark had about 101,250 square feet available. So, the animals had one forth of a square foot each, or six inches square. Consider that the giraffes had to lie down for 376 days. The four elephants (two species) would need over five hundred pounds of hay per day all together. A dry hay bale weights about 50 pounds, so the elephants alone would need over 4000 bales (200,000 pounds) of hay for the trip. That is almost a starvation diet for the elephants. Then there are fourteen rhinoceroses. They would need MORE than the four elephants. Let's don't even think about the cattle, horses, donkeys, zebras, sheep, goats and hundreds more of the animals.

We now come to the meat eaters. How do you talk a lion into eating hay? You don't, so you must provide some extra sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, and such for your thousands of meat eaters. And we must not forget the thousands of birds and insects, which the Bible tells us God did not forget.

This story of Noah and the ark is a lie. There is no room for water, no room for food, no room for the waste, no room for the animals and no room for this myth in our halls of education. There is not an ounce of science in the story as it is written, which is the same thing as saying: There is not an ounce of truth in it. Besides, every animal, man and woman would have been asphyxiated in just minutes. It did NOT happen.

The histories of the Egyptians, Chinese and Assyrians run through the supposed period of the flood without any break, pause or mention of this earth destroying event. Their histories and myths DO tell us of a period very much earlier in history when nature went berserk. At that time the positions of the heavens (stars) changed as seen from the earth, and so did the days, time (rotation of the earth) and in addition to that, there was something new added.

The four seasons were introduced.

The Chinese histories tell of a very earlier time when the emperor killed many of his wise men for not predicting the catastrophe, which changed days, time and began the seasons. He then sent other wise men through out all areas of the kingdom to "redefine the days, the times and to determine the seasons." That is, to make new calendars, star charts, almanacs, planting and harvest guides.

Would you like to know what the Stonehenges and stone circles of ancient times really were? When the Chinese emperor sent his wise men all over the kingdom it was because a great catastrophe had occurred. The orbit (spin and the tilt) of the earth had changed due to being hit or grazed by a comet, planet or asteroid. The poles may also have shifted at this time as they often have in the past.

Prior to this, the earth's orbit was three hundred and sixty days around the sun. The full moon showed up thirteen times a year and its cycle was about 27.7 days from full moon to full moon. There were thirteen moons (months) and many used the moon to calculate time. Many holidays are still calculated by the moon today. The American Indians calculated time by the moon when the Europeans arrived. We have ample evidence of these things. (Our circle division and math comes to us from the period before the catastrophe.) There was little to no tilt of the poles, so the weather was nearly always the same at the different latitudes. It was always hot at the equator and progressively cooler in the northern latitudes. But there were no seasons as such. We are talking about more than fifty thousand years ago. Man has been here a long time.

How did the Chinese and the rest of the wise men of the earth determine the seasons, days and years? They set up a pole in the center of a large circle (astronomical observatory) and placed a rock or stick where the first shadow of the pole fell each day. They had to do this for many years because the continuing wobble of the earth caused the day markers to fluctuate. After many hundreds of years, the pattern settled down so that each shortest and longest day of the year fell in exactly the same place, as did all the other days. The poles, rocks and sticks were replaced with large boulders, huge stones and sometimes statues, buildings or temples. They did the same for the moon and stars. Every surviving group of people on earth had to find out the same new information, or remain confused and at the mercy of the new seasons.

One mystery to me is why the Egyptians did NOT do this. I will assume it was because of their location on earth. Their water in the Nile was dependent on the run off of snow on the mountaintops in central Africa. This did not change much. Also, their weather did not change as much as did the places of other people. What the Egyptians did was to continue counting the year as three hundred and sixty days, and at the end of those days, they simply observed five "no days or holy days." Well, that's one way to do it.

The Egyptians do tell us of an earlier time when the sun rose in the west and sat in the east. In fact, they claimed such changes had taken place several times in Egypt's ancient civilized memory. However, none of the historians tell of the whole earth being destroyed by water and only seven people being saved.

Every ancient national culture has a myth about a time when water swept over the land. Some survived in boats, some on floating trees or debris, some were saved in caves, some on mountains and some were saved by the Gods. These myths seem to refer to a time many thousand of years before God created the earth (according to the time table of the Christian Bible).

It is not impossible that a rich, well-informed ancient scientist saw some tragedy approaching such as the slipping of the poles, or a comet coming. He could have built a boat to save his animals and family. The story (later) was converted into a religious story and then expanded upon until it reached the size and form it is in today. Such a slippage of the poles, or the impact of a comet on the earth, could cause a tidal wave big enough to sweep all the way around the earth and push a large boat up on a mountain. There is much evidence that indicates just such a world wide tidal wave several thousands of years ago. There is also evidence for an even earlier destruction that was much worse than the latest one. Are we due again? (More on this in the article on Prophesy.)

I am saying right here, God never wrote a single word of this flood story, nor did he tell anyone else to write it. This is a myth copied from the Persians just as the creation story was copied from them. If there were a God, he would be outraged that anyone would tell this falsehood and say, God did it, or God said to write it down. He would be doubly outraged that anyone of the people to whom he gave brains would believe it in its present form.

The Bible is not true to science, therefore, it is not true to the truth. There is not a religious world and a scientific world. There is only one world, one universe that we live in, and what can be shown to be true by science, MUST ALSO, BE TRUE FOR RELIGION. If religion fails to accept the truth and in its place, tries to teach untruths, then something must be done to protect our children from the false, from belief and from religions.

Wouldn't you like to stop these lies from being taught to our children, especially when religion declares that these unbelievable and untrue things ARE true? Why should the minds of our greatest resource (our children) be stolen by those who seek to gain power, pleasure and profit from the lies? How long will we (the human race) be held hostage by such terrorist tactics? How long will we accept mental slavery at the hands of religion? How long will it be before we replace belief, which lets religious authorities describe their falsehoods to us? And what will we use to replace the falsehoods? Why not try some Honest Clear Thinking and replace belief with the TRUTH?

Why is the Bible called God's Word? Why would God lie to us in such a blatant manner? Why would an intelligent person accept the lie as though it were the truth? Why do otherwise intelligent people insist that this lie (and the many other ones found in God's Word and the holy books of other religions) is the truth? Why do otherwise intelligent people claim that religion must be given freedom to teach these false myths in public places? Why do we honor those who teach these lies? Why are those, who point out these falsehoods, looked down upon and condemned for speaking the truth, and for not believing the unbelievable? Why do Clear Thinkers of the world have to pay to get the truth put into print, while the teachers of these falsehoods get their lies told free of charge? WHY? WHY? WHY?
