The
word “faith” needs to be broken down into its several parts. Our word
“faith” is used by most people to mean belief, confidence, trust, conviction,
reliance, assurance and the like. But that is not always the way “faith” is
used in many of the ancient manuscripts and by ancient wise men including the
Jesus of the Bible. In translating many ancient languages, we often use our
word “faith” to translate their words for “belief.” This ignores the fact that their
ancient words for “faith” were always separated from their concepts and words
for “belief.”
Their words for
“faith” have a very close relationship to their words for “knowledge.” Ancient
words for “faith” also have a close identity with the words for “wisdom.” Those
words carried the meaning of “having the knowledge” to accomplish something.
Faith does not always mean belief. “Faith” often means having the necessary
knowledge to understand the ramifications of the matter and to accomplish
something positive.
Jesus
said if you have faith you can command this mountain to be moved and it will be
moved. If you take the real ancient sense of the word we translate as “faith,”
you will immediately recognize that Jesus was saying, “If you know how
(have faith) you can remove that mountain.” Hey! We are doing that every day.
He said, “If you know how you can turn these stones into bread (or
food).” Hey! We are doing that right now too.
For
a long time geologists have been telling us that oil is made from fossils. In
other words, millions of dinosaurs (or fish and plants) decided they would all
collect in certain spots around the earth and all die at one time right there
in one place. Right? Wrong! One huge dinosaur would only make two or three
barrels of oil at the most. Millions of barrels of oil are extracted from the
earth “each day.” There never existed that many dinosaurs on earth (any place
or any time). Certainly, they never all collected together so they could all
die at the same place. Go figure.
The Russians hid
their secret geological science from the west for decades. Their secret has now
been revealed and Russia could presently extract more oil than Saudi Arabia.
What is their secret? The earth itself is manufacturing oil deep in the
interior and the force of this new oil is pushed up through porous rock and
cavities into the lakes and pools of oil we call the oil fields. What Russia
did was to drill down to the place where the oil is being manufactured by the
earth itself. Presto, there is more oil in the world than man could use up in
thousands of years. (We are not discussing ecology here.)
Oil
companies are trying their best to keep this knowledge from you. They want you
to have faith “believe” in their claims and proclamations. But the simple fact
is that the earth heats and pressurizes “stones” into oil. Originally, all
stones were a part of organic matter. So Jesus could have first said, “If you
have faith (the know how) you can turn these stones into oil.”
Most of you
already know that oil is one of our biggest sources for chemicals used in
growing food and in some cases; oil is processed directly into food. Our
scientists even expect to extract water, fuel and minerals from the stones of
our asteroids, moon and planets in space.
If
you have faith, (the know how) you can heal the sick. If you have faith, (the
know how) you can walk on water. Wait! It has now been admitted that our
government possesses anti gravity devices and they are being used in advance
designed air and spacecraft. Go Google it for yourself.
By
properly translating the words we now translate, as “faith” we see that Jesus
and other wise men were not out of their minds when they said, if you have
faith (the know how) you can do many wonderful things. “Faith” as used by the
ancients is the accumulation, activation and utilization of “knowledge.” That
knowledge may be in the scientific field, the mechanical field or in the
chemical field. It may also be in the esoteric (spiritual) field but it always
includes the knowledge (how to do it) and the practice of the subject.
Christians
think “faith” is like some kind of “magic desire or wish” that needs no
preparation, no determination, no information and no implementation. The fact
of the matter is “faith” is a laborious process demanding hard studying,
observation, training and hard work. Using “faith” is a sweaty, intellectual
and demanding process. Earning our bread by the sweat of our brow is also a
matter of “faith.”
A
word needs to be said here about the fact there is more than one way to skin a rabbit.
There are more than two ways to heal the sick or remove the mountain. But all
the ways require knowledge and effort to do the deed. So, faith may and does
often encompass knowledge that we do not yet know or do not know that we
possess. Our scientists are learning every day more and more about the “faith”
it takes to accomplish miracles.
The science of the
mind is in its infancy and we may learn one day to do what others in the past
have called miracles. “Faith” as used in the esoteric (or spiritual) area also
requires the knowledge, practice and dedication to develop the mind and the
abilities of mankind. “Faith” is the activation of knowledge.
The “faith” we use
will always be the know how.
