TIME and Time Again
Hawking and some other
scientific thinkers have stated that there must have been a time when time did
not exist. Now that is an oxymoron if I ever heard one! To think about time we
must revert to Thom's Law.
”If there
were ever a time when there was nothing, there would still be nothing.
Nothing cannot produce something.”*
*See Thom’s Law
To this fact, (that nothing
cannot produce something) we must define time.
Time is the progression (movement) and measurement (difference) of any interval or sequence of events.
So, we must look at Thom's
Law. Since there was never a period when there was nothing, then there has
always been "something." Since Something has always existed,
"Something" has always been about its business of Changing from one
place to another or from one thing one thing (energy/matter) to something else.
Energy moves both within itself and from stage to stage and even place to place
and that takes time (fast or slow). This fact is the principle of our atomic
clocks. It is not the atom that is vibrating. It is the energy within the atom
seeking balance that causes the vibrations. Energy has always vibrated, so we
have always had time.
Each element of material has
its own vibrations, its own signature or finger print. The vibrations and
signature of Time does not have this property. Rather, Time has different
properties under different circumstances and conditions.
When thinking about Time we
must not just think in terms of the material, that is, of matter. We must also
think in terms of energy (of which all matter is made). Energy is something and
energy is always moving and straining, at least within itself.
However, (and this is an
important, “However”) Time is also a medium as is space, as is energy and as is
speed. That is, Time is relative to the observer, relative to speed, relative
to energy and relative to location. Energy can compress Time or elongate Time
as viewed by us. Mathematically thinking, Time can be compressed into so tiny a
space that it does not exist to an outside observer in that one spot of
compression. But even within that compression there is still a straining
against that compression and therefore, an event is taking place (in Time). The
greater the compression, the greater the resistance and straining against it.
Time also continues to exist outside of that compression in other places and
conditions.
Thus, we must think of Time
as arbitrary, whimsical, irrational, schizophrenic, linear, cyclical and even
artificial, but absolutely and necessarily existing - always.
Space itself cannot be
contained. That which exists IN space may be contained or compressed, but space
itself simply oozes through and around any compression of energy or space.
Space may be considered both the container of ALL and the only container that totally
surrounds itself as well. This brings up the concepts of infinity and eternity.
The only thing, which can be
conceived of as eternal, is “Nothing.” “Nothing” is not a medium in which
something can exist. Since “Nothing” cannot produce something, then “Nothing”
is the only eternal concept that would last forever. That is, if “Nothing” ever
existed at any period in the past “Nothing” is all that would exist now. The
opposite of Nothing is Something. Something has always existed and been in flux
in both Time and Space forever past, and will do so in the forever future. But,
space-time is only the medium in which something exists and in that medium all
things are changing and evolving and has a birth, a life, a death and a
re-birth. Everything has its built in life span.
Energy? Spiritual (or
dimensional) Energy? Now that is
the mystery! Maybe there IS only one basic type of energy? Notice I ended with
question marks. Maybe there are many types of energy, which war against each
other or which cooperates with other forms of energy. Maybe energy is a foreign
force, an intruder into our type of space (or dimension). Maybe space itself is
energy as well as the container of energy. By contemplating the ways of nature,
which we can observe – we see nothing is ever wasted. Our space may be like a
battery shooting energy into some other dimension, and some other space-time
maybe shooting energy into our space - or both.
Which brings up a multitude
of questions. Just how many types of space and time exist? Is the (so called)
spiritual world simply another type of space and time that under certain types
of conditions can or may interact with our space and time? Are there levels or
ranks of different types of space and time? Obviously, if there are other
levels of space and time, then our physics, chemistry and even our math may not
apply in some of them. Indeed, Time as we know it, may take on a totally
different meaning and use in another dimension of space-time.
In addition, Time, Speed,
Distance and even Energy may not have the same meaning in another space-time as
they do in our material (?) space-time universe.
Here are some connected
questions. Are thoughts a form of energy? Can thoughts be related to a type of
prayer or meditation? Can happy thoughts or harmful thoughts change things
(anything)? Can thoughts affect or effect material objects? Can thoughts change
anything in the future? Can thoughts be carried from one person or place
instantaneously in our time to another person or place? If so, through what
medium (dimension or space-time) do these thoughts travel? If thoughts can
travel through some medium (dimension or space), can material objects (under
certain conditions) also travel instantaneously to some other place?
Now "instantaneously"
refers to our way of reckoning time. In another space medium, a person
may wander around for a good while (in that space's time) but emerge back to
our space-time at the same instant he left. (That is a very, very, short,
short, short time compared to ours.) Or, one may spend a very short period of
time in another space (time) and emerge days, weeks or years later only to find
he has become a modern Rip Van Winkle. One may even be able to spend time in
another dimension and return to our time - before he left.
Believe it or not, there are
official records of verified claims that these events have taken place - many
times. Those to whom these things have happened, have been supported by various
witnesses and testimonies. Often, these things happen in and around ghost types
of events, fairy types of events and UFO types of events. Now, if such is
possible, we must figure out how to make these things happen on our terms and
at our discretion. Who knows? This may be the route to the stars. Have others
already established the fact that they can control and navigate in these other
“Space-Times,” dimensions or spaces? It is claimed to be so.
To illustrate some of the
problems with the concept of time travel I have written a story, THE TROUBLE WITH
THE TIME MACHINE. In today's paper, there is an article (which provoked this
article) in which some scientists of good repute have stated that a time
machine can indeed be built. There are many philosophical problems that
surround this concept and I am sure you could rip off several while you read
this. However, I have looked only at some of the scientific, psychical and
mathematical problems that surround the concept of time travel.
I do not say we cannot
travel through time. I do say the physical, psychic and mathematical problems
associated with the concept must be fully explored before any attempt is made,
especially to send something living through time.

Now! I hope I have answered
all your questions about time, about time, about time, about time, about time.
